Highlight: The morning of the third day when we walked through the darkness of the jungle only to be greeted by an amazing sunrise, blessing our boat journey to the deepest tourist accessible part of the Manu Reserve. Also, the food! Our chef, Cesario made incredible meals working with just a propane stove and headlamp. Lunch and dinner always included a huge bowl of soup for an appetizer and dessert... We also never ate the same thing twice!
Sunrise from our boat on day 3...
Favorite Animal: Seeing a jaguar swim across the Manu River, then stop on the bank to look back at the boat before disappearing into the thick jungle was pretty awesome.

Highlight: The first boat ride out of the port town of Atalayah heading down the Madre de Dios. Only a few minutes from town, we hit the first rapids and saw the first jungle mammals.
Favorite Animal: The giant river otters in Cocha Salvador, an Amazon lake. We were able to see all eight of the otter family and even got to witness them catching and eating piranhas. There's less than 200 of these left in the world, so this was a pretty awesome opportunity.
Thanks to our awesome guide, Fernando, and his eye for spotting wildlife, for leading an excellent trip and putting us in position to see so many incredible animals!
